When can my dog be vaccinated?

 

The Animal Hospital of Chetek and Animal Hospital North follow the WSAVA (World Small Animal Veterinary Association) guidelines for canine vaccinations.

 

Puppy vaccination schedule:

  •  8 weeks old: DA2P (Distemper, Adenovirus-2, Parvovirus) #1.
  • 12 weeks old: DA2P #2, Lyme #1, Leptospirosis #1 (if necessary).
  • 16 weeks old: DA2P #3, Lyme #2, Rabies, Bordetella/Parainfluenza (if necessary), Leptospirosis #2 (if necessary).

 

Adult dog vaccination schedule if fully vaccinated as a puppy:

  • 1 year old: Da2P, Rabies, Lyme, Bordetella (if necessary), Leptospirosis (if necessary).
 
After boosters are given at 1yr of age:
  • Yearly vaccines: Lyme, Bordetella (if necessary), Leptospirosis (if necessary)
  • Triennial (every 3 years) Vaccines: Rabies, DA2P

Adult dog vaccination schedule if not fully vaccinated:

  • Rabies: One vaccination, booster in 1 year, then once every 3 years.
  • Bordetella/Parainfluenza: Once vaccination every year (if necessary).
  • DA2P: One Vaccination, then once every three years.
  • Lyme: Two vaccinations given 4 weeks apart, then once every year.
  • Bordetella/Parainfluenza: Once vaccination every year (if necessary).
    • Leptospirosis (if necessary): Two vaccinations given 3-4 weeks apart, then once every year.

     

     When can my cat be vaccinated?

     

    The Animal Hospital of Chetek follows the AAFP (American Association of Feline Practitioners) guidelines for feline vaccinations.

     

    Kitten vaccination schedule:


    • 8 weeks old: FVRCP #1 (panleukopenia and upper respiratory viruses), and FeLV vaccination #1 (leukemia virus).
    • 12 weeks old: FVRCP #2, FeLV #2.
    • 16 weeks old: FVRCP #3, Rabies vaccination.

     

    Adult cat vaccination schedule if fully vaccinated as a kitten:

    • 1 year old: FVRCP, Rabies, FeLV.

     

    After vaccination boosters given at 1 year of age:
    • Yearly vaccines: Rabies, FeLV (if necessary).
    • Triennial (once every 3 years) vaccines: FVRCP.

     

    Adult cat vaccination schedule if not fully vaccinated:

    • Rabies: Given once every year.
    • FVRCP: Two vaccines given 3-4 weeks apart, then once every three years.
    • FeLV: Two Vaccines given 3-4 weeks apart, then once every year if deemed necessary.
